Opening her bank account |
Not long ago a new entertainment center for kids opened up in town. The franchise is called "Divercity" and resembles a small city where children learn about jobs and how a city functions. Years ago we had a similar initiative, Micropolis, but that one was not a permanent business but a temporary exhibition. We went to Micropolis with my older son Jose Andres and although he had a good time, its temporary nature made it so so quality.
When Mariafer, my daughter, knew about Divercity she persistently asked to go. I can remember at least two months since she mentioned it first. We even consider celebrating her birthday there. However in my mind I had the picture of Micropolis and was not excited about the idea.
After interviewing some viitors she had to debrief at the radio station |
Last Sunday I finally agreed on taking Mariafer to Divercity. Now I regret not having done it before. She was delighted and thankful that even if the place were less than Micropolis it would be worth the trip. Quite the contrary, though, Divercity is a permanent installment and hence the quality of the attractions is excellent. The logistics is awesome with parents almost forbidden inside. They have a security system that is the coolest thing I have ever seen. All members of a party wear a bracelet that has a location sensor that can be displayed in a map in interactive stations distributed around the park. Kids open their bank account with a debit card that actually work with ATMs with its own currency, the DIVI. Some of the exhibits are for fun and kids pay to go in, while others are to work (or learn about how things are made) and here they are paid. If a kid wants just to play, soon runs out of money and needs to work to play again.
